Phoenix Generation Resources
Our curriculum is grounded in building healthy communities by working at three levels:
Personal
Interpersonal
Rising Together
Too often, individuals want society to change, and institutions want individuals to change. In reality, both are true and are not dichotomous. We have to take personal responsibility for our part of the work.
“We are a link in the chain of building justice, but we are not the first.” — Dr. Lua
We recognize that our contributions are not entirely new.
We are drawing from resources and building upon them. In the areas of community builders, inclusion, and positive activism we acknowledge the historical foundations that have come before us.
Our goal is to establish the next stage of history, we are only one link.
We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us and accept the responsibility to be the shoulders for those who come after.
We see the strong chain before us and are the link that the future connects to.
Hatred, poverty, and inequality, unfortunately, will not be solved in our lifetimes. So, how can we contribute to the push of solving these social issues?
What is our LINK? To get closer to an answer, you have to do the work. Dive into these helpful resources and learn how you can contribute—and be a positive link in the chain.
The Personal Work
In individualistic societies, we often find ourselves stuck in the “rat race,” valuing production and glorifying business. What if we could align instead of hustle? Studies show that many of us are experiencing deep loneliness, and that is leading to mental and medical wellness issues. Through personal work, we are able to find peace in solitude, make time for connection with others, and commit to meaningful service in our work and community. This may also require growing personal capacities such as humility, patience, and justice. We offer resources and tools to grow a contemplative practice, value clarification/coherence, and development of your own definition and plan for thriving.

The Interpersonal Work
In a diverse society, many different perspectives exist. Social media and the news do not provide role modeling for quality dialogue across differences and conflict resolution. We encourage an open-mindedness to listen deeply and participate in courageous conversations. As one increases self-understanding, one can be less threatened by differing opinions and ideas. We’d like to invite you to our resource toolbox, where we can help guide you to take small steps in communicating with your family, neighbors, coworkers, friends, and acquaintances.

Rising Together
There is a significant need for not only the ability to hold conversations but also to establish comfort in working together to tackle complex issues. Our collective action is the physical manifestation of our personal and interpersonal values, journeys, and commitments to each other. We hope that through working together despite differences on shared issues, we can be the beacon for multi-partisan perspectives and have a civic and community impact.
